When should I seek urgent care for my pet?
Urgent care is the right level of care for pets that are in stable condition but can’t wait days or weeks for an appointment. At Papaya, we’re equipped to handle a wide range of urgent situations such as:
- Allergic reactions (swelling, rash, hives)
- Bite wounds or skin lacerations
- Blood in urine or stool
- Ear infections
- Irritated eyes (tearing, discharge, redness)
- Limping
- Loss of appetite
- Ticks, fleas, worms, mites, etc.
- Torn toenail, paw pad abrasion
- Vomiting, diarrhea, constipation
If your pet’s condition is more serious and requires a higher level of care and/or hospitalization, we’ll direct you to our 24-hour emergency hospital in Encinitas.
Urgent care hours at Papaya Veterinary Care in Carmel Valley, San Diego
Urgent care appointments are available during our regular clinic hours:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
If your pet needs to be seen outside of those hours, please call our 24-hour emergency hospital in nearby Encinitas at 619-762-4865 where care is offered around the clock.
